Silver Swan Recruitment are a bespoke recruitment specialist agency who specialise in chalet, private household, villa and yacht recruitment. They are a small business who were working with an aged website when they approached us about doing their SEO. We advised on a website redesign as well to enable us to implement many of the SEO fixes, as well as improving usability and conversion aspects that were seriously lacking on their existing website.

Philippa was looking to develop the Silver Swan business and was naturally looking at SEO as a way of doing this. However, after our initial discussions we suggested a new website would be an important start to the project to enable us to implement what was needed to push performance forward.
The old site looked aged, had a wide variety of SEO issues that had developed from being around for so long and was not working efficiently for the team.
The other key challenge was the site’s SEO performance and taking its existing positioning and building upon it. The site was lacking in a number of areas, with better targeting needed, content improvements to be made and better off-site marketing activity required.
The website redesign was at the core of the improvements we have made, but it was not the first action we undertook. We began with a thorough analysis of the market and existing site, as well as in-depth keyword research to identify where Silver Swan were in a strong position and what areas they were lacking in.
This allowed us to come up with an effective content plan and information architecture for the new website that would allow us to make cumulative gains once the site was live and we continued the SEO work.
After the site launch we moved our focus to the off-site marketing activity to get Silver Swan featured and linked to on good quality sites. This included some guest blogging activity, bespoke link research to find opportunities and content marketing activity to gain links on top-tier domains.
We combined this activity with the addition of new content on the site which included both informational pages on the blog along with more targeted commercial landing pages to widen the net of phrases Silver Swan could be found through.
This process is ongoing, and we continue to see monthly improvements, with year-on-year improvements widening with each month that passes by.
Since we started the campaign with Silver Swan we have made strides forward by working closely with Philippa and ensuring that her budget goes as far as possible in order to compete with more established, larger competitors.
These improvements have included an increase in year-on-year organic traffic by 392%, and this gap continues to widen the further we get into the campaign.
The site is now found through 302% more phrases than it was the month before we started work, with many of these phrases now ranking on page 1 of Google including some of the most competitive in the industry, such as ‘ski chalet jobs’ and ‘private household jobs’.
We’ve also gained coverage for the site on some powerful and highly relevant domains such as Startup Donut, HR Daily Advisor and Lonely Planet.
This has also led to strong growth for Silver Swan, with the team expanding from 1 to 6 in just over a year, and revenue up significantly on previous years as they move into new markets.
Summary
We’ve loved working on the Silver Swan project and bring able to take the project from scratch and build a site that incorporated everything that was needed for scalable growth. The gains we’ve made have all been based on a well-researched website design and build, and that has allowed us to make huge strides forward with the amazing coverage we’ve gained subsequently.
